About the Program
- The Program I am studying through is sponsored by the University of Michigan's Center for Global and Intercultural Studies (CGIS). Since it is a U of M program, I pay U of M tuition while studying abroad.
- I will be studying Arts and French Language/Culture. I will be taking the following courses:
Paris By Site - a course designed to familiarize us with the city in which we will be living for 4+ months. We will visit many landmarks, some famous, some lesser-known.
Paris Through the Lens - If you know me, you know how geeked I am about this course. One of my favorite hobbies is photography and this course will give me the chance to learn about the city of Paris by using my camera. Oh yeah, I'm excited.
Intermediate French - I'll be taking 6 credits of French, which will fulfill my French language requirement at U of M. I'll be taking this course at the Institut Catholique, a university in Paris.
Fashion and the Modern Visual Arts- This class will focus on fashion and it's impact on society. It's more of a history of fashion rather than fashion design class. We will talk about fashion as a form of art, self-expression, etc. Where better to take this class than the fashion capital of the world?
- I will be staying in a homestay with a French family in Paris
- The program lasts from the middle of February - middle of June. After the program ends, I may stay a bit longer to travel Europe!
